Join the Formula Scout team

by Peter Allen
Formula Scout is looking for new members to join its editorial team in 2021 to help cover junior single-seater racing at all levels across the globe via our website, social media and new multimedia platforms

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Formula Scout is the world’s leading English-language website dedicated to covering junior single-seater racing.

We cover everything from Formula 2 and Indy Lights down to Formula 4 and Formula Ford 1600 in depth, and report directly from the paddock in countries across Europe as well as reporting on major events in Esports and karting too.

In the past 12 months, Formula Scout has broken major stories on F1’s support series and historic junior single-seater events such as the Pau and Macau grands prix, and interviewed star drivers from F1, Formula E, IndyCar and beyond.

Several feature series go a step further in detail to the grassroots level. True to our original mission, in Scout Reports we speak to a rising star and the people behind them in the formative steps of their car racing career, with past examples including current AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda and F2’s Oscar Piastri and Theo Pourchaire. Region Watch focuses on the junior single-seater and karting scene in a specific part of the world, and has previously assessed the grassroots impact of Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari move and how smaller nations are capable of producing single-seater talents with little infrastructure.

The Formula Scout Podcast was also launched in 2020, in audio and video form, and attracted big-name guests from the motorsport world including famed Carlin team boss Trevor Carlin, McLaren sportscar star Ben Barnicoat and several of last year’s junior single-seater champions.

Formula Scout is entirely volunteer-led but run to professional standards and has long enjoyed a strong reputation in the wider industry. This has helped its writers to earn opportunities as journalists with publications including Autosport and The Race, in public relations roles at world championship level and even in television broadcasting. Recently our podcast team has also been invited onto motorsport career and punditry webinars.

As well as looking to expand our team of reporters and editors, in 2021 we are looking to expand our multimedia presence and bring in new team members skilled in podcasting, social media and video production and editing.

Formula Scout has a collaborative relationship with FF1600website, the world’s leading website dedicated specifically to the coverage of Formula Ford racing, where many of our correspondents have honed their on-the-ground journalism skills.

Joining the Formula Scout team can lead to experience in national and international paddocks, as well as digital skills in using website CMS systems and HTML, becoming part of a close-knit team and newsdesk environment, working alongside professional journalists and accessing opportunities beyond Formula Scout.
